ENDORSEMENTS

I’m honored to have the support of leaders who believe in our vision for a better Berwyn. These endorsements come from individuals who know what it takes to lead and who share our commitment to transparency, accountability, and putting residents first. Their confidence in my ability to serve as First Ward Alderman means the world, and together, we’re building a movement for real change.

Congressman Chuy García

U.S. Representative for Illinois’ 4th District

“I proudly endorse Micah Caldwell for Alderman of Berwyn’s First Ward. Micah has spent his career advocating for mental health access, safer streets, and a stronger, more inclusive community. He believes in real solutions—not division. While Republicans normalize inflammatory rhetoric, Micah is a compassionate leader who listens and uplifts others. He is focused on what truly matters: improving public safety, expanding resources for families, and ensuring Berwyn remains a welcoming place for all. I wholeheartedly endorse Micah because leadership is about bringing people together, not dividing them.”

Alderman Joe Carmichael

Berwyn 8th Ward Alderman

“When I first met Micah, he was speaking at a city council meeting, passionately opposing the conversion of an open lot into a parking area. He spoke eloquently, articulating a vision for what that space could become—imagining a park where families could gather, adding another much-needed communal space to Berwyn.

That’s Micah. He’s a visionary. He has bold ideas for the future of our city and a deep commitment to making Berwyn a safer, more cohesive community for neighbors and families. But what truly sets him apart is his leadership, work ethic, and ability to turn those ideas into reality. Micah doesn’t just dream big—he works tirelessly to make those dreams happen. His dedication to issues like pedestrian safety and community well-being, combined with his determination and follow-through, will make a real difference in our community.

He isn’t waiting for an election to start making change, he’s already working toward his goals by leading the Berwyn Walk Bike Group, advocating for safer streets and better infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists. His hands-on approach and commitment to action show that he is ready to serve and deliver real results for the First Ward.

I am thrilled to see him stepping up to bring fresh, thoughtful leadership to the residents of the First Ward. It is my honor to endorse Micah Caldwell for Berwyn’s next First Ward Alderman.”

Alderman Rob Pabon

Berwyn 5th Ward Alderman

“As we approach this pivotal moment in our community, it is important that we carefully consider how we would like to move forward. We all recognize that the decisions we make about who is going to represent us will create a direct impact on our quality of life and set the foundation for future improvements. I believe Micah Caldwell is the candidate who can bring meaningful change and lasting progress to our city, and I am excited to share why I’m standing behind him in this critical election.

Micah has over a decade of experience working in the nonprofit sector as a mental health therapist, serving individuals with severe mental illnesses, addictions, and other challenges. He’s also worked with unhoused people, returning citizens, and newcomers. Like myself, he believes in lifting folks up and building strong, caring communities.

Micah has also been an active Berwyn resident. As a leader with Bike Walk Berwyn, Micah has been an advocate for a more sustainable, walkable, and bikeable Berwyn. He is committed to pushing for green infrastructure, better transit options, and centering human and environmental design when it comes to development projects. Like many of us in our community, he understands that if we don’t take care of our environment, space, and place, we cannot create a healthy and vibrant community.

Micah and I also share similar values around collaboration, participation, and community building. In 2022, I brought Participatory Budgeting to the 5th Ward to provide my neighbors an opportunity to have a voice in the democratic decision-making process. Micah has also pledged to bring Participatory Budgeting to the 1st Ward. This commitment is a reminder that Micah is a strong leader who wants to work with his neighbors to make Berwyn a better place.

I also believe that leaders are whole people who bring more to the table than just their professional experience and expertise. As a parent of three myself, I understand how Micah will make decisions for our community that are not just in the best interests of our community in the moment but are forward-thinking. From safe streets and parks to strong schools and a clean, sustainable environment, Micah understands how important it is to create a Berwyn where families can grow and thrive.

I support Micah Caldwell for 1st Ward Alderman because he is going to be an independent voice on City Council who will fight for his community and build a better Berwyn with his neighbors. I hope you join me in my support for Micah by voting for him on February 25th, volunteering with his team, and/or making a donation to ensure he is elected.”
